Read: 2 Corinthians 9:5- 14

Some Christians do not think of abundant living as a reward for obedience to God's Word, giving to the poor, and not taking his blessings for granted. Even though material things are included in abundant living, this is how the Bible interprets abundant living, as promised by our Lord in John 10:10.

First of all, abundant living, as mentioned in scriptures, is an ongoing spiritual blessing from God, Himself. Abundant living, is a gift from God, and is highly spiritual in nature. It is a blessing which can go on and last indefinitely. Indefinitely, as long as one doesn't fall back into the disobedience of sin. Obedience keeps the abundant blessings flowing. Disobedience stops it.

The blessings of abundant living comes to us only when we are intently obedient to God and His Commandments. This does not mean that we can't error in our deportment and still hang on to the abundant blessings. God is tight, but not that tight. When we make mistakes or errors, yet trying feverishly to maintain a good deportment with God, God is most forgiving in such matters, as long as such mistakes are not habitual in nature. God understand when we fail in our trying to do what is right and moral.

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege it is to carry everything to Him in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Not confessing our "abundant-canceling" sins will terminate our abundant blessings. God does not give His "pearls of blessings" to a swine. A pig will only dirty up clean things given to him (Matt 7:6). If you wish to keep the water flowing, don't stop up the pipe!

It doesn't stand to reason for anyone having a desire to give up diamonds for dirt! This is just like a dog returning to its vomit. Any one who has a bent on doing this, simply put, is possessed by the devil. Such a person must also enjoys putting on clean clothing over dirty stinking ones, thinking no one will notice the smell. At this point in one's spiritual life, one has a serious need to return to God and seek His amazing grace. Why dam up the river flowing with milk and honey (blessings) with "the dirt" which prohibits God's abundant blessings from flowing into one's life.

Abundant living is brought about by having a heart desiring to give and share with others. Especially, with those who have little. St Paul preached and testified to the church in Turkey, shortly after he just revived a young man, who fell out of a third story window. Listening to Paul's extended sermon, for I remember the words of the Lord Jesus, It is more blessed to give than receive (Acts 20:33-35).

Paul preached to the Corinthians church as well, But this I say, He which sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully (2 Cor 9:6-7). Prior to this statement, Paul says, you should not give under pressure, (v.5). A most assuring statement comes afterwards, God is able to make it up to you, when you give and come up short in your needs,(v. 8-9). God's grace is much more abundant! When we do not give to God, we block our abundant blessings from Him. Yet, God challenges us to try Him and His abundant giving (Malachi 3:8-10).

God gives His children much, but many squander the blessings and eventually fall away from receiving the continual, abundant blessings from God. Remember Jesus parable about the Prodigal Son, who squandered away his wealth and went hungry in the hog pen (Luke 15:13-14). God's abundant blessings will stay the dark clouds of hell from breaking over your head.

Life is short down here. We need to get it right the "first time around". There is no second chance, in spite of the false sense of security some may carry. God gave us our heart beat not to suffer and curse life as we live it, but to enjoy it, as He originally designed it for us....I come to give you life and give it to you more abundantly-in fullness (John 10:10).
